Jan - June Weekly Results
2nd January- What a round !!! New member Benge Munce has an awesome round of 45 points (wait till the handicapper catches up to him) winning easily from Chris Brown with a very creditable score of 39 on a count back from both Ross Thompson & Steve Cuff. NTPs went to Terry Stevenson, Steve Cuff & Ken Kable who had two.
In the Ladies, Maureen Roberts had a good score of 38 points winning from our visiting Qld member Gaye Henderson. Maureen also cleaned up the NTPs having them on the 3rd, 8th & 17th Holes.
On Sunday 6th there was the largest & strongest field for the men's competition which was played in somewhat milder summer weather. Steve Young had a excellent score of 41 points, followed closely by Pom Wheeldon with 40 and John Henderson in third place with 39.
A swag of other players had scores of 38, 37 & 36.Nearest the Pins were won by Tex Tuckwell, Chris Brown & Alan Butterworth.
In the Ladies there was also a good turnout with Mary Oberemaier winning from Donna Tuckwell & Pat Foote. Pat also had NTPs on the 3rd & 8th and Maureen Roberts on the 17th Hole.
Wednesday's field of 20 for the Men's Comp saw Chris Brown have 36 points winning from Clinton Starr, John Henderson & Alan Weston all with 35 points.NTPs went to Charlie Filtness on the 3rd & 17th, Clinton Starr on the 8th and Werner Siegenthaler on the 15th
Sunday 13th,was the second round of the Summer, best 3 out of 6 rounds, Stableford Competition. Bruce Dorward had an excellent score of 40 points with 4 players then coming in with 38 points - Tex Tuckwell, Mick Bottom, Ron Duncan & Laurie Whitehead.
NTPs were Ross Walters on the 3rd (almost had the Eagles Nest Money), Ken Kable on the 15th & Chris Brown on the 17th Hole.
With very hot conditions Wed, there was very small fields for both the Men's & Ladies competitions with most players hitting off early.
In the Ladies Betty Thompson was the winner, with Monica Watt second & Jan O'Halloran third. NTPs went to Monica, Carolyn Major & Madonna Siegenthaler.
Keeping it in the family, Werner Siegenthaler won the Men's with 36 points on a count back from John Henderson. Next was Steve Young on a count back from Terry Stephenson.
With the second largest field for the summer a host of sub par scores were returned on Sunday. Terry Stevenson won on a 3 way count back with 39 points from Mick Bottom & Dal Dutch. Following on a 4 way count back with 38 points were Kevin Cramer, Steve Dunn, Alan Parsons & Ken Kable.
Nearest the Pins were won by Steve Munz, Laurie Whitehead & 2 to Steve Dunn.
In the Ladies, Elfie Doran won from Maureen Roberts with Jan O'Halloran getting NTPs on the 8th & 17th holes.
2019 Volkswagen Scramble at Coolamatong Snowy Mountains Country Club
We would like to thank the following sponsors for taking part in the 2019 Volkswagen Scramble at Coolamatong Snowy Mountains Country Club.
The Volkswagen Scramble has been running for 25 years and has established itself as Australia's largest and most successful teams' event, averaging 36,500 participants across 460 local events annually. Participants must hold an official Golf Australia Handicap to compete at a local event, which is run in an elimination Ambrose format where strategy is key to success.
On Sunday the local event was held at the Coolamatong Snowy Mountains Country Club at Berridale where participants competing in this local event where the day’s winners have the opportunity to play in the Regional Final in Canberra and if successful there could progress further to the Championship final at Twin Waters Golf Club on the Sunshine Coast.
The Championship Final is the golfing experience of a lifetime, with four days of golf, social activities and the opportunity to play with a PGA Tour Professional, such as Rod Pampling, Stuart Appleby or Marcus Fraser, in the final round.
With that in mind the competition was keen with approximately 70 golfers playing in an elimination Ambrose mixed team format. Players came from the local and surrounding ACT/Monaro districts and included the host Club Coolamatong, and other Clubs including Thredbo, Cooma, Tumbarumba, Bega, Bombala, Tathra Beach and Federal.
Winners on the day were a team from Cooma Golf Club of Mark and Jenny Rainsforth, Sean and Donna Smith with an excellent score of 57.6.
In second place were Stephen Russell, Mitchel Bucholtz, Mark Venables and Ben Rolf and coming in third was the team of Ross Thompson, Ron Wallace, Roger and Michelle White.

Wednesday Results saw a good Men's Field with John Onur returning 41 points to win from Ken Wilson on 39, Werner Siegenthaler on 38 followed by Steve Young. NTPs went to Terry Stevenson, Alan Parsons & Ken Kable.
In the Ladies Barb Daley won from Maureen Roberts & Monica Watt. Maureen also collected 2 NTPs with Jan O'Halloran the other.
On another hot Sunday, there was a reasonable field of 25 golfers. In the Men's the winner with 36pts was Steve Dunn next came Ken Kable with 35pts on count back from John Onur 35pts. NTP's on the 15th was Steve Dunn and the 17th Dave Douglas.
The Ladies were playing stroke M Roberts winning with 80nett on countback from K Woodcock 80nett and third was M Watt with 81net. NTP's M Roberts on the 3rd, K Woodcock on the 8th and N Archibald on the 17th.
Wednesdays winners in the men's with 38 pts was Allan Butterworth then Laurie Whitehead with 36 pts next was John Onur 35 pts and round it up a group of on 34 pts was Ken Kable, Ken Wilson and Terry Stevenson.
NTP's on the 8th was Allan Butterworth and on the 17th was Laurie Whitehead.
The ladies winner was Jan O'Halloran 31 pts, Vickii Roarty 27 pts, Elfie Doran 24 and Maureen Roberts on 22 pts.
NTP's went to Nadine Archibald on the 3rd, Jan O'Halloran the 8th and Vickii Roarty on the 17th.
On a brisk Sunday morning with a field of around twenty players was a stand out score in the Men's by M Bottom with 38 Pts, followed by C Filtness on 36pts, then followed by C Fenton 35 pts, D Dutch 34 pts and K Kable 33 pts.

The Ladies had a stand out winner in Vickii Roarty with 34 pts, clear of Elizabeth Schlup 31 pts and M. Roberts 26 pts.

On a near frosty Wednesday morning, Terry Stevenson 38Pts came away with the purse with Alan Parsons 36Pts, Bill Quinn on 35 Pts and Ken Kable 34 Pts.

Saturday was the first round of the Local Pennants with strong teams competing from the district. Coolamatong defeating Jindabyne 3-2 and Delegate defeating Bombala 3-2. Nimmitabel having the bye.
Sunday saw a great sunny day with a big role up of 28 members and visitors participate in a Stapleford Competition. Winners on the day were:
1st Charlie Filtness 40 points on a count back from Chris Rowlings and 3rd Mick Bottom with 39 points

1st Nardine Archibald with 74 net on a count back from Jan O’Halloran and 3rd Betty Thompson with a net 75 net.

In the Men's it was stableford comp and there was a tight finish with Norm Archibald on 37 pts countback from, Ross Thompson, and Andrew Tighe 36 pts and Ron Duncan 34 pts.

The Ladies also had stableford with Jan O'Halloran 30pts, second and third was also a close game with Maureen Rupcic 27 pts countback from Maureen Roberts and Elizabeth Schulp 27 pts

Coolamatong Golf Club’s Annual 3 Day Championships got under way on Sunday and will continue for the following Saturday & Sunday for the final round.
In the Ladies, progressive results are Carolyn Major net 76 leads the field from Jan O’Halloran net 79 & Monica Henderson net 77. The ladies will have a strong battle for honours next weekend.
In the Men’s, veteran Ross Thompson leads with 80 scratch followed by Arthur Owens 82 scratch then Bob Mullen 93 scratch. All of the 3 players lead their grades respectively. There will be scratch & net prizes for all grade winners with the overall champion a scratch prize.
Coolamatong Golf Club held their Mixed Championships on the weekend. On Saturday a 4 Ball Best Ball event was played with the Veteran pairing of Club stalwarts Ross and Betty Thompson winning with a score of 64 from Roy Gabriele and Jan O’Halloran followed by John Henderson and Monica Watt. The men did not fare well with the Nearest the Pins, but in the Ladies Donna Tuckwell cleaned up with 3 and Monica Watt claiming the other one.
The mixed foursomes over 27 holes were held on Sunday with John Henderson and Monica Watt just winning from Norm and Nadine Archibald followed closely by Ross and Betty Thompson.
A Men’s Stableford was also held with Roger White returning a great score of 40 points followed by 3 players with 37 points - Chris Brown, Laurie Whitehead and R Baker. NTPs were won by Lee Hallam, Wayne Tuckwell and Adam Hosie.
Members and members of other local golf clubs PLUS social players are reminded that April is Charity Month with a 2 Person Ambrose being played on Sat 6th and Diggers Day on Sat 27th of April where players do not need an official Golf Handicap to play in these Charity Fund raising events.
